A quick update…

The first two months of 2026 have sped by; January was a busy one for us as we gave our lovely Beech Cottage a well deserved reno! Originally converted from the old cowshed back in 2004, this cosy one bedroom cottage was ready for a freshen up so we started by removing the kitchen and taking up the old flooring throughout. A fresh lick of paint, new flooring down and a brand new kitchen fitted saw four weeks fly by!

We’ve already welcomed lots of guests through February and bookings for the rest of the year are filling up fast – we’ve also got a few guests booked in who stayed in Beech Cottage last year so we’re excited for them to see the transformation!

February hasn’t been any more relaxed as we’ve continued the work with redecorating the B&B rooms; just a freshen up of paint in the King/Twin rooms. Then for the double room, as well as fresh paint, it has also had new flooring laid so we’re ready for another busy season there too.

As March arrives we’re hoping to see an improvement in the weather to allow us chance to carry out further ground works at the campsite before opening for Easter at the beginning of April (we might be being a bit ambitious there!) After the success we had levelling the lower half of the camping field last winter, we plan to carry out some landscaping work on the area between the camping field and the amenity block to create some extra pitches with elevated views which will hopefully be ready to use by the summer holidays.

This year we’ve added induction hobs to our two Glamping Pods, making it easier for guests to prepare some basic meals for themselves without having to cook outside (pans and utensils also provided).

May Day! May Day!

The summer has arrived!! So pack up the car, grab the kids and get yourselves to Whitby!

Spend the day at Whitby beach, soaking up the rays, jumping the waves and building sandcastles before the tide comes in. Try a delicious Beacon Farm Ice Cream and be sure to finish the day with some fabulous Whitby Fish & Chips; The Magpie Cafe, Trenchers, Mister Chips, Hadleys… the choices are endless – did you know Whitby has over 20 Fish & Chip shops!

Visit Robin Hoods Bay to play in the rock pools, explore the tiny, winding streets and imagine the days when this place was rife with smugglers! Stroll along the beach to the YHA Boggle Hole, sit for a while at the café, before heading back Robin Hoods Bay to take a ‘ghost walk’ that will show you some of the hidden passages used by those smugglers in years gone by!

Jump aboard the North York Moors Railway at Whitby and enjoy a relaxing steam train ride to Pickering, taking you through stunning scenery on the 180 year old railway. A lovely old market town with a river running through it, Pickering offers lots of little independent shops and cafes to explore, as well as having a castle to visit!

Exploring The Yorkshire Coast

Fun Fact! Did you know The North York Moors is the driest of all the National Parks in the UK?

There’s so much to do on the Yorkshire Coast, all easily accessible from Newton House Farm!

Whitby
Within five miles of our site there is the historic port of Whitby, now a popular tourist destination. You can spend a day at the beach, spend your pennies at the amusement arcades, eat ice cream and candy floss whilst enjoying the view from the piers. Wander the cobbled streets of the old side of town, hunt out unique shops and cafes, buy yourself a piece of Jet; the locally found fossilised stone made famous by Queen Victoria. Climb the 199 steps (don’t forget to count them!) and explore the Abbey ruins on the East Cliff.

Robin Hoods Bay
Head five miles in the other direction and prepare to have your breath taken away by the view as you descend into Robin Hoods Bay. A quaint fishing village; famous for its history of smugglers. Explore the narrow winding streets and take a walk along the sand to the café at Boggle Hole. Stay until dusk and join a ghost walk to learn more about the smuggling history.

The Esk Valley
Drive across the Moors to Grosmont or Goathland and board the North York Moors steam railway to Pickering. Have a walk through Goathland; well known for the ITV police drama Heartbeat and the railway station that appeared in the Harry Potter films. This is the only village in the Esk Valley that is relatively flat!
If you follow the River Esk up the valley you’ll find many little villages to explore: Glaisdale; where you will find Beggars Bridge, with its romantic tale. Lealholm; home of the stepping stones. Visit Egton in August and enjoy a day at the local show, one of the biggest one day shows in the country.
Spend hours walking the many footpaths and trails on offer and rest your legs at the end of the day in one of the many fabulous and friendly country pubs.

Scarborough
A trip down the coast to Scarborough offers another day on the beach or at the fun fair. Visit the Sea Life Centre to feed the penguins or spend the afternoon at Alpamare Waterpark where kids can play on the flumes and adults can relax in the spa that offers 13 different treatment rooms.

It’s an exciting time for The Coast to Coast, after decades of being the most popular long distance walk in the country; it is finally going to be granted National Trail status. It was announced last August that £5.6 million will be invested in upgrading the network of footpaths, bridleways and other rights of way that make up this iconic route.

The 192 mile walk from St Bees on the Cumbrian coast to Robin Hood’s Bay on the Yorkshire coast was first devised by renowned Fell walker, Alfred Wainwright. To this day thousands of people from all around the world travel to the United Kingdom with the sole purpose of completing the infamous trail. Over the course of two weeks walkers get to take in the scenic beauty of three of England’s National Parks; The Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales and The North York Moors National Park.

Our campsite is positioned near to Falling Foss Waterfall, a notable attraction by which the C2C passes, which makes us an ideal stop for your final night beneath the stars before your final day of walking to reach Robin Hood’s Bay. Our site provides a peaceful setting to enjoy a relaxing evening, whilst our modern facilities with hot showers are just what you need after a long day of walking across the moors. Whilst there is not a pub near to us we can offer a bespoke evening meal prepared just for you, all you need to do is get in contact when you make your booking to discuss your requirements.

Glamping at Falling Foss

Hello, and welcome to our brand new website! Newton House Farm is nestled in the beautiful countryside of the North York Moors, just a short distance from Whitby and only a stone’s throw from the wonderful Falling Foss waterfall.

We are opening our farm up to campers and glampers – those looking to experience a truly wonderful camping experience in the heart of North Yorkshire.

Camping

Our campsite is small but perfectly formed. We have 20 pitches, with washing up facilities, a small kitchen area with a microwave and a well-equipped shower block. We’re a little way off the beaten track – 5 miles from the nearest supermarket or cash machine, so guests are advised to come prepared!

Glamping

For guests looking for a little more luxury, why not try our comfortable glamping pods! These are equipped with underfloor heating, comfortable double beds, tea/coffee facilities and sockets for your devices. They’re well insulated, making them a great option all year round.

North York Moors

Surrounded by the picturesque North York Moors National Park, Newton House Farm makes a fantastic base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country.

We’re also close to Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, and the Esk Valley – made famous through the filming of Heartbeat and Harry Potter!
